HAPPY NEW YEAR, everybody! What are your resolutions? After a personally difficult year in 2010, I have quite a few:

1. Become a better person...a better mother, daughter, friend, neighbor.

2. Lose 25 pounds. Would feel better all around.

3. STOP PROCRASTINATING!

4. Become a bona fide GUITAR PLAYER!

5. Write songs with at least 10 other people.

6. Curb my bad habits (drinking, smoking, staying up late).

7. Track my financial spending.

8. Do something I always wanted to do but was too afraid to.

9. Live every day like it is the best blessing EVER!

10. Love unconditionally, and with all of my heart!

NEEEEXT!

1. Try and rhyme my songs better

2. Lose this weight i've gained

3. hell, i'm already pretty near great, oh sorry, try and be a better person...

4. Forget about men, i'm gettin too old, be happy with myself

5. Be the best friend to everyone that I can be

6. Be a better songwriter

7. Try and write a song with most everyone here

Polly, them's nice resolutions.

I do a Work List every January, and post it in the blog to remind me what I'm supposed to be doing. All music. This year's Work List includes (not in priority order):

WRITE (one good song a month, and one co-write a month, on average)

FINISH THE ALBUMS (both the Deathgrass one, and the Southern Pigfish one)

VIDEOS (I've got some easy ones to do, and some hard ones)

MARKETING (because "toilet paper" is still more of a household word than I am)

MORE (AND MORE PAYING) GIGS

and--because a man's reach should exceed his grasp--ORGANIZE THE WORLD TOUR.

1. "Ongoing" resolutions I have made on any given day in any year. Depends on the things that come up, or I suddenly want to do. Being my life number is 3, and my birth number is 11, it's the way I seem to work best anyway. Inspiration drives me.

To make no more New Year's Resolutions. Maybe a New Year's Revolution, yeah that would be OK but no...no more resolutions. I'm resolved in that.

Years ago I resolved that I would not make New Year Resolutions.
It has been a resolution I've faithfully kept.

Happy New Year everyone! Because my life is so chaotic I'm trying to keep things simple. My resolutions are-

1- Try to take each moment as it come,get through it and worry less about the future.

2- Take more time out for my hubby and kids

3- Take more time to count my blessings

4- Find more time to write and read/hear others' works

I have major "battles" to take on against the school as well as taking care of my mom and finding a new job/career when mine is gone in Sept. These things will just have to be tackled in bits and pieces.

I have nothing against resolutions. I think if someone means business when they make them and works toward their goals, well God Bless them. From what I've read statistically only about 12% of people who make them keep them. Ever notice how many exercise bikes are at yard sales come May, because they get them in January and the commitment dwindles by Spring. I sometimes resolve to fix/change/adjust things through the year and not at New Year's since I figure why wait for New Year's. It is however a good starting point calendar wise for tracking so by all means set goals but it will be work if you are serious.

Anyhoo (as our wonderful Beth always says) instead of sharing resolutions, I am being bold and posting a lyric that includes resolutions since I resolve to be hopeful in finding a co-writer to come up w/an uptempo/country/pop/female/sassy w/attitude/ melody while we're in this resolution mood/groove.

I rarely make Resolutions because La Femme always brings 'em back UP later in the year... OK, here goes:

1) Fewer, preferably NO..Amberbocks
2) More, preferably LOTS..more Zinfandel.
3) Daily Situps to reduce my Gut.
4) Make More Loot so I can Demo More Songs.
5) Retire from the Clock Biz so I can Demo More Songs.
6) Sell-off one-to-all-three houses somehow.
7) Move to a Third World Country...
8) Live Happily-Ever-After.

I expect to get a LOT of Harassment come 2012..but a Man's Gotta Dream!

I WILL:

1. Write at LEAST two new songs a month

2. Co-write at LEAST two new songs a month.

3. Find at LEAST 1 new co-writer a month.

4. Perform my songs at two writer�s shows a month.

5. Make 4 trips to Nashville this year for networking purposes.

6. Get involved in songwriter related web sites (like this one!).

Joe you are welcome to and anybody else who feels/hears it! Thank you. Although I know you are partial to bluegrass and you do it well, I am definitely seeking Contemporary Country or Pop on this particular one just so we are on the same page

Lynn, I will keep that in mind, and see what I can do. Your call, as always, what you want to do with it--if you don't like it, it just disappears. This is your song, after all. I am, as you know, not very contemporary, so I ain't making any promises.

My new years resolution? Make up a good New Years resolution for next year..

Every year, I resolve to resist temptation. Years ago, this required a lot of willpower. But, I've noticed, that the older I get, the less frequently temptation (at least in the form I enjoy) shows up. In fact, lately it hasn't shown up at all.
So, I make the same resolution every year, quite confident that I can keep it.
