We have quite a few Beatles experts here, so I want to ask a few trivia questions. I will trust that the real Beatles aficionados will not refer to Google. Please answer the questions as you know them from sight and not from research. Just throw out a guess if unsure.

As we know, The Beatles last album was called "Abbey Road". That wasn't the first choice for the title of the record. Below is a poll of 4 titles that may have been considered beforehand but not used. Please vote on the title that you think was almost considered but rejected before "Abbey Road". Tell us the reason that your title wasn't used.

For extra credit, tell us whose idea it was for the title "Abbey Road", and the connection with the album photo, besides it being taken in front of the studio.

Again, please don't participate if you Google the answers.

Although, the last album that The Beatles recorded was Abbey Road, the last Beatles album released was actually Let It Be.

So, was this a trick question, or what?

No trick question Todd. You're right that the last released album was "Let It Be", but the last recorded album was "Abbey Road". So the question still stands.

I guessed but only through process of elimination. I sent you a pm with my answer. I'm not often stumped on Beatle questions but I admit I had to guess on this one. Good question and topic.

Everest was thought of by either John or Paul, (I think)!
They were to go to there to have the album shoot be taken with them near it,,thinking nothing is bigger than Everest, as well as The Beatles. Probably didn't go over with George. With that, the degree of difficulty, cost and time, it was thought by MAYBE Martin, to just do the shoot at the studio's road, which is the same name as the EMI studios.

There have been many rumors of Paul's death from the album cover "hints", with the VW Beetle having "28 IF" being part of the license plate, as 28 being Paul's next birthday age IF he would still be alive. The Beatles claimed they had nothing to do with any such rumors. They would state that with so many fans already thinking up stuff on their own through the years, they would never have to!

Paul walked barefoot, (said it was a warm day and wanted to take off his shoes), and held a cigarette in the opposite hand he would usually hold one. Many pointed to those things too, as being "proof" he was dead. (Thinking that a right handed imposter was filling in for Paul, in other words). LOL

Other pointed some things about the other Beatles too, (as in their clothes and "why"), but I'll pass those rumors over to others here to talk about.

Everest is BIG, as of course were/are The Beatles, and so the intent of the album cover to put The Beatles and Everest together.

Well that didn't take long. The votes were a split between "Come Together" and "Everest". Johnny D knew the right title. Little Stevie also guessed it. According to Geoff Emerick, the word Everest was first brought up when someone (not sure who) noticed a crumpled empty Everest cigarette pack (Emericks brand). Johnny was right that the reason that they didn't go to the Himalayas for a photo shoot was that it would be too costly. Ringo was also dead against taking such a trip just to take some photos, so he said "Let's just call it Abbey Road". They all agreed and went outside for the photo shoot. Thanks for playing guys.

I keep thinking what a cool album cover Everest might have made...but isn't it amazing that even after they decided to go with the laziest, most uninspired idea for an album cover, it still ended up being the most iconic album cover of all time? I can't think of a more recognizable album cover image then those four guys walking...there may be another one, but this is easily the most imitated album cover ever.

Hi, I've just come back from a weekend in London, Marylebone which is spitting distance from Abbey Road (well, about a mile actually). Yes, I knew the answer to this one and voted correctly. Johnny were you being a spoiler here? Bad Boy

Speaking of The Royal Albert Hall, some off topic trivia. Frank Zappa and The Mothers were thrown out during a concert in the 60's. They apparently commandeered the pipe organ in the hall and played "Louie, Louie" on it. Apparently playing "Louie, Louie" on the Albert Hall pipe organ is a no-no. The incident was recorded and put on the Mothers album "Uncle Meat".

The pedant in me spotted one anomaly in the article, the group George was referring to in his intro to I Me Mine was Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch, who had a string of UK hits in the 60s. Perhaps the writer wanted to imply that George was most definitely Beaky and not Dozy

Oh boy oh boy, I love Beatles trivia! I was always fascinated by the fact that over the years there weren't more varied songwriting collaborations among the guys other than the familiar Lennon-McCartney template. However, there were a few.

I'll just pick the first one. There was a track called Cry For A Shadow credited to Harrison and Lennon. It was an instrumental, I guess that the title was a nod towards 'The Shadows' who at the time were a very popular guitar instrumental group in the UK. The US equivalent to The Shadows would have been someone like The Ventures.

Just a bit of further trivia related this question. In the early days The Beatles positively avoided Fender guitars (word has it that they turned down a lot of money to use them), hence the use of Hofner, Rickenbacker and Gibson. Some suggested that this was to differentiate them from The Shadows who were all Fender.

A well established American band was considered as the back up band in John's "Double Fantasy" live tour, if it were to happen, which, as we all know didn't.

Someone blew a dog whistle into the microphone after the last song on one of their albums. It's said that dogs didn't hear or respond to it on the vinyl record, but when it was converted to CD, our four legged friends could hear it loud and clear.

No one took a stab at my other two trivia questions, but I'll bite on this one.

"A Day in the Life," the last song on SERGEANT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND.

Greg wins a cigar. I've never tried it myself, but I don't have a dog or a Sgt. Pepper CD, but I've heard that they react (ears up maybe?) after the "Day In The Life" Crescendo.

I haven't tried to answer the other two questions because I don't have a clue. Remember, we are using the honor system here. No Googling for the answer.

I thought that this was a trick question and would have guessed Stuart Sutcliff because after all he was the first name of The Beatles bass player.

Ok, I can't resist any longer. It is What Goes On; the first track on side 2 of Rubber Soul. I'm surprised no one was getting this because it was pretty significant in Beatles folklore as it was the first track that Ringo got a writer's credit on.

Continuing this theme, what was the first Beatles' track that Ringo got his first solo writing credit on?
