They've increased the cost of adding singles from $9.95 to $12.95 and now if you want to receive any money owed by cheque there is a $1.50 charge for US members and $2.50 charge for foreign members. They are nickle and diming every cent they can from the members that their business is based on.They just sold one of my CDs and they want me to send ONE to replace that one for stock. For me to mail one CD will cost me $4.00 postage, they take $4.00 for selling it,charge me $2.50 to mail me a cheque, total $10.50 for a CD that sells for $12.98,take out the cost of the CD and I'm losing money. I know they are in business to make money, but leaving no profit for the artist will discourage them from continuing to use their service.

Folks,
Many of you are on CD Baby. Can anyone else verify this scenario? It is not that I do not believe Everett, I just would like some additional verification before I approach anyone at CD Baby.
Thanks,
Brian

I just checked CD Baby and it still said $9.95 per single with a 9% commission for each digital single sold. I previously have run my CD stock down to zero before sending them a new batch without a problem.

It is still $9.95 but going up shortly and they are encouraging artist to purchase credits at the old price to be used in the future.I didn't know about the cheques charge until I had reason to upgrade my personal info, and there was a warning sign by where you choose how to receive your payment. One time they use to ask for five CD for stock, now I think it is three and slow movers they will ask for as low as one.Not economical to send one with the cost of postage, especially from a foreign country. It looks like they are trying to discourage physical CDs and go with downloads.I've always been a booster for CD Baby but lately their moves are hurting the small artist.Maybe they are trying to weed out the small artist all together and just cater to those moving larger amounts.

I had 2 physical CD's with them. Got an e-mail that they're cutting back and asked if I wanted them to mail back one of my CD's (at my cost) so they would have one in stock. I never answered.
