Micheal,
I was being somewhat facetious. There IS NO ONE PERSON that controls the music industry or entertainment industry. There are a BUNCH of competing factors. It is always one of those humorous myths that people think about behind the scenes in the music industry.
But there is always driving force. someone who sets the tone and everyone else follows behind. That is Taylor. I've seen it twice here. Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift. Like Micheal Jordan in basketball, they reset the bar as how what they do is viewed. The culture bends to what they are doing, they become the gold standard by which all else are measured.
Lisa, why I don't think anyone has anything to worry about is because there were very different upbringings. Miley and most of the other trainwrecks were raised in LA. Very different up bringing. Taylor continues to stay close to her roots. Even in her various "ManScapades' she always has come out on top and gained elements of her career in each one. So I doubt you will see that implosion.
And again, even if you didn't think she hit it out of the park, I tend to dissagree. This was a music video. Everyone is trying to compare it to a major motion picture, which it isn't. But again, I'm willing to bet you see a corresponding video and music push in the future which does the exact opposite. But watch others for a while try to emulate what she has done. Gets pretty funny actually.
She sets the tone by doing the unexpected. No one can predict what she is going to do. That is why it gets so much attention. And the NORMAL THING in younger people's lives is to self destruct, usually very publicly.
That is exactly why I DON'T think she will do it.
