North Korea and China are current examples you could study.
Government takeover of huge parts of the economy often leads to communism.
History has shown that it's always a first step.
I'm really happy that you're happy with your Canadian healthcare system, Aaron. That's the culture you were raised in, and if that's what you like, then I'm happy for you.
Americans prefer a more decentralized blend of government and free market for their healthcare, as do many Canadians who cross the border for their healthcare needs.
