When writing songs about the upper Texas coast, keep in mind that the currents bring all of the silt from the Mississippi, Sabine and Pearl and it creates shallow muddy bottoms around here at the coast. They had to dredge out the Houston Ship Channel to make it navigable for offloading freighters just a few miles up from the bay.
