I record onto my computer hard drive using a TASCAM US 122 interface that came bundled with Cubase software. Plug-ins for compression, reverb and a few other effects. Why? I'm a beginner and, already having a computer, it was the easiest and cheapest way for me to get started. Do I like the plug-ins better? Don't know - I'm a beginner  I mic my acoustic guitar and banjo (vocals and harmonica too ). I plug my keyboard directly into the TASCAM and electric guitar through a processor to the TASCAM. Scott
