Lance Adams started a thread about trying to pitch a song to John Mayer, to which I replied that it wasn't too likely. I, in turn, started a thread lamenting that I thought I had finally written a cut-worthy country song, only to be scooped by an established Nashville songwriter. So...Just how does one go about breaking into that exclusive inner circle of writers who have the ear of major artists and their "people"?
Step 1 obviously is to write GREAT songs,{and face it, many of us delude ourselves that we're better than we really are!}
But where does one go from there?
TAXI is one avenue, but their specialty lately seems to be placement in films and T.V. In the past I've subscribed to some industry tip-sheets, but most of the publishers there seem to be small-time. Any tips from you insiders out there?
