I too have changed a bit. Gave up on Vista and got a used fast XP desktop for my Audacity.
M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card.
PreSonus compressor
ART preamp
MXL and Shure mics.
Like playing the guitar, I think that knowing how to use the equipment is more important than what type you use (up to the point of a professional studio anyway).
