I advocate for improving always have
Songwriting is widely considered a skill developed through consistent, intentional practice rather than solely an innate talent. While natural aptitude can help, dedicated practice—writing frequently, analyzing songs, and refining techniques—is paramount for creating high-quality music. Good morning again. There is definitely truth in that, but I think that congenital talent goes a long way in a lot of things. Larry (Dom), you could have had the best track coaches in the world since birth and worked out with them, on a track every day for twenty years, but you would never get to the Olympics. Nonetheless, hard work almost always pays off in some way. #1 Larry aka Fdemetrio aka Dom Larry, you cite a long list of well known songwriter performers. If any one of them visited this site and offered opinions, I would hang on their words. They've been there and done it, have Grammys to show for it, and seen things that they were sure would work, fail, and things that songs that they thought were middle-of-the-pack, takeoff. George Strait once said that when he put out an album, he had a hard time predicting which songs would be fan favorites. The takeaway...you are nowhere on the lists of songwriters that you cite. Why is that relevant? Context. #2 Larry and delusion (continued) You are not in a recording studio trying to refine and take the rough edges off of a song that you created. You are here. You don't have cuts or grammys or anything else. When the basis for your songwriting critiques and opinions were called into question, you cited boxes of songs that you have written on paper and stuffed into shoe boxes over several years...as proof that you are an accomplished, knowledgeable and skilled songwriter. Here is another, and to me, a more realistic way to view those boxes. All of those boxes of random scribblings do not prove that you have advanced songwriting skills. They prove that you never got anything done or completed. Until AI came along and transformed your scribblings into songs....for you. You are a scrub with delusions of grandeur. #3 Context As I said, you are not in the studio with actual artists working out your songs. You are here on this website talking about how great they are. You are the only one talking about how great that they are. What is this website? In reality, it is (or was) a social club. This is not a place where Taylor Swift comes to hone her craft. This has boiled down to a group of hobbyists who want to enjoy a pass time, and feel validated. This site is not the Dominick Dunne School of songwriting. You are a scrub with delusions and a poster boy for the Dunning-Krueger effect. Taking your opinions seriously would be a mistake for anyone to do. There are all sorts of people out their in the world, ready to go into long explanations of how to do something or another, yet they don't really know. Taking their advice, or yours, is a wrong turn and likely harmful to their efforts. This site did have a songwriter who had played in the game named Barnett. My understanding is that Moe's (JAPOV) constant badgering made him give the place up. Mike Z was a tireless learner of production skills and a great asset to the site. He was willing to share all sorts of info that he cultivated. I can say with certainty that your badgering made him quit coming. Kay-Lynn lives is Nashville, writes, attends song-swaps...and brought what she knows to the site. Moe wasn't having that, so he called her a Cu*t and told her to choke on a di*k...understandably she she started her own site. What remains is Moe, Larry, Shemp, Rachel and breakfast with Marty. Until tomorrow...maybe xoxo Yeah? And how many 13 year old, Taylor Swift were iut there, still are, who DID NOT put the work in, did not study craft, and their abilities thwarted. And if TS did not work on her craft, we wouldn't know her Mr oj was found innocent... Maybe im not nowhere near these people. What does that mean? If running track, i learn everything i can, manage to finish 5 seconds faster than I normally do, that is a win. If you run the NYC marathon, and due to work, you FINISH, when I never did before, yet hundreds of people finish ahead of me. Major win. What your doing is saying unless somebody is exceptionally gifted, working on their craft will not help them improve. And using a obvious insult to me, to try and prove that point. It doesnt matter how successful you are, you can always improve. You never do because you are a know it all bloviator, with very little knowledge to back it up. And im a way better writer than you, and its not cause of unworldy skill. Not many people here understand craft, the ones who do know this indisputable fact well A great song writer would never say I'm better then the another songwriter , And you seem to say that on every site you've been banned from You put lyrics in a box and push a button and tell us your going to the studio for that last 4 years and post vids of the who Let me get this straight my wife has sunscreen on her face to look white and Saran Wrap on her feet cuz she has a headache

Guys, this is exactly why people stop posting songs here. Someone shares a track, and instead of feedback, the thread turns into personal attacks and arguments. That doesn’t help anyone improve - it just drives people away. What I find especially frustrating is that the same people who keep saying this site is dying are often the ones creating the kind of environment that makes others not want to post in the first place. That’s a contradiction worth thinking about. Oh, I forgot ... flies don't have a brain. They don't think. This is supposed to be a place to share music, learn, and exchange ideas. You can disagree, but there’s a big difference between discussing songwriting and tearing people down. If we want this place to survive, maybe we should get back to actually talking about the song. If running track, i learn everything i can, manage to finish 5 seconds faster than I normally do, that is a win.
If you run the NYC marathon, and due to work, you FINISH, when I never did before, yet hundreds of people finish ahead of me.
Major win.
What your doing is saying unless somebody is exceptionally gifted, working on their craft will not help them improve.
It doesnt matter how successful you are, you can always improve.
In the above you proclaim yourself champion of the "every-man."
"We should not measure ourselves against others, but measure our success against improving upon ourselves. We should run our own races"
Those, to the best of my recollection are the words of a social-psychology professor that I had in 1972.
And I agree with them. And to the extent that they coincide with what you wrote, I agree with you.
But what you wrote, does not describe you.
Over a period of years, you have descended on the song post of almost every "every-man" songwriter at this site and told them what they needed to do to improve on their song, in accordance with the "Dominick Dunne School of Songwriting." And more often than not they would reply thanks for your input but I don't agree.
And then you would begin haranguing them about the shortcomings of their song and that would devolve into insults such as "talentless hack."
You demand strident critiques at the DDSS and strident compliance or the insults follow.
That is not allowing the every-man to "run his/her own race."
That is suffocating their efforts in accordance with your assumed paradigm.
Not many people here understand craft, the ones who do know this indisputable fact well
It implies that you are knowledgeable enough and capable enough to hand people a verdict on where their songs stand as art.

You watch the same dysfunks come to this site, piss down their leg about the same off-topic stuff as the site seems to be withering on the vine…over-and-over again…and you wish that they would maintain a focus strictly on songwriting. But they don’t and it is allowed here, under the banner of “free speech.” Years ago, I told a woman that her complaining was accomplishing nothing, just making matters worse. Her response was “some of us just need to vent.” So, if you want to go off-topic and talk about whatever your favorite “vents” are, then do it. But you don’t have the standing to dictate what I may find interesting to talk about. I suppose that you could contrive a plot to have me banned, complete with harassing emails to my personal email account, in order to trigger me…but…on a site where a male calls a woman a cun*t and tells hers to choke on someone’s di*k, yet is allowed to remain?…good luck with that. Well Moe, You did post a song, so I’ll give the song a just-deserved critique. Before I do: There are people here who assert that messages that are political and other off-topic stuff can be put into song form, and once they are, the message is exempt from scrutiny and criticism. The song can only be critiqued with regard to structure, form etc. That seems ridiculous to me. The primary reason for almost all songs (with lyrics) is the message.The lyrical and musical structures serve the purpose of imprinting the message onto the central nervous system of a listener. “Don’t bore us, get to the chorus.” Demanding that someone not critique a song’s message seems tantamount to MOTOR TREND magazine inviting essays about F-150 ownership, but forbidding any mention of the engine. *********** In your song, you feature a malevolent creature created by an omniscient, omnipresent and all powerful creator-of-all. But there was a power struggle at the top tier of the universe and the creature who was created benevolent, “fell-from-grace,” and became malevolent….with the purpose of tempting the hearts and minds of humans in order to prevent them from uniting with the creator-of-all…for eternity. The creator-of-all is omniscient and therefore knew how all events would unfold beforehand, yet allowed this outcome with this devil. The creator-of-all is all powerful, yet allows this devil to wreak havok, though the creator-of-all is capable of putting an end to it at any time. As for me, I wasn’t there to witness any of it first-hand. I can’t tell you whether all of this is true or not. Your song is a collection of images in which the final reckoning of people who yield to the devil’s temptation and turn away from the creator-of-all are severely punished in a violent end, for their non-compliance. But to my view, the same person who wrote this….wrote… For the record, Mr Lied... I don't give a fuuk about any of your souls!

Sadly, these days, the only soul I care about on this site is my own... And "I am a racist" "C*unt" "Choke on Bryan’s di*k" "Well, FUK you then too Rob" And many other things. A true Christian would never write those things. They violate too many tenets of the beliefs. To my view, those writing come from a person with mental illness who has balled Christianity up into a one-off personal belief system which gives his warped outlook ultimate validation. So…is the song about an ongoing battle between the creator-of-all and a malevolent being that he created? Or is the song about an ongoing and confused storm strictly within the mind of the person who wrote it? A very earthly and tremendously narcissistic but frustrated personality, who needs to believe that his life will be validated by the ultimate destruction of the souls of those who do not heed his message. At the present time, in the progression of technology…death awaits us all. So I guess we will see, or not. On balance, I think that the song’s content is rehashed from many other sources and the song’s structure and music are nothing special. xoxo

I hate to say it, but there ain't much music uploading going on here.
My breakfasts seem to be the main attraction at the moment.
You all should work on that.
A start would be an apology to Kay-lynn. Of late, she was the best hope here for a rekindling of songwriting focus.

The primary tenets of Christianity are woven into Western Civilization from the day that we're born. e.g. there are ongoing battles right now about judges hanging the 10C in their courtrooms. Which, I personally, support their right to do. I see the 10c as one of the cornerstones of law. RvW...it can't be discussed thoroughly without a mention of religious doctrine regarding conception. On and on. I'm not going to start reciting tenets for you, but you should look them up, because some of the very basic ones seem to be lost on you. Gotta go. xoxo
