Well, for me, that would leave Tofu on someone else's plate...right along with quiche and stewed tomatoes and mushrooms and soft eggs and Bill's sour cream!

I also LOVE Habeneros. I wash them off and eat plain. When I get out of the shower every morning, usually after I get dressed, I got to the refrigerator and pop the top on a can of Dr, Pepper and pull a Jalepeno pepper out of the jar and eat it. That's a great breakfast!

And I learned one thing about people who eat Jalepeno and Habenero peppers on a regualr or semi-regular basis...they have a 37% lower incident rate of cancer than the rest of the population. I should NEVER have to worry about the Big C!

I wish some AI contestant would come out and sing "Dynamo Hum". I sang that at a karaoke bar once...very weird. ("I got a spot that gets me hot, but you ain't been to it.")

Why do we get so passionate about American Idol? It's just another TV show. I get more passionate about TV itself---I really don't watch it. Commercials piss me off. Seriously, I get angry. I don't mind a mindnumbing program, but I can't tolerate constant advertising being piped into my own home, and me held hostage, drinking it all in. Can't do it, won't do it. I have Netflix on hand when I want to watch something.

Now that's enough TV for tonight, Just Plain Folks. You get off those lazy butts this instant and make some music!

I like Jalapenos but I woun't eat anything hotter than that. It has been shown that people who eat hot(spicy) foods have less problems witth Cholesterol and tend to be leaner.
But now I understand why you don't care for the other culinary delights.
The Habeneros have burned off your taste buds and you don't know what anything tastes like.

Wow, 54 responses in no time flat! That's what I figured... ten pages of boosting AI on another thread, and now this one too...

The beauty of a democracy is that we all have our say, and we're all allowed to be wrong too, and talk about it as if we aren't.

I have sold songs, not a lot, but a few of them. I haven't heard them for a while , but they're out there, so that's not my issue. I myself could get a lot more gigs if I'd submit to the mundane ritual of a cover singer. The 'guy and a guitar' thing carries with it the expectation of the litany of folk tunes and classic rock songs that I just won't do. I teach those songs everyday to more than 50 students a week. Not that I don't like them, but cover tunes are not my goal.

But there is something much more noble, much more significant to the entire musical process when you make a contribution to it, paying your dues for me is just giving back to the process that gives us all so much, not to write the next Celine Dion hit but just anything that has your mark on it. I tell that to all of my students and several have embarked upon the path of songwriting, some instrumental, some lyrical. It doesn't matter which but to know that they are working at their craft and being creative is a real joy to see and hear.

I have been in the business for a lot of years. Most of it singing covers for a living. Well it is not perhaps the perfect way to make a living but it beats the hell out of flippin burgers and it pays better. It is not selling out it is making music and getting paid for it. OK sometimes it is not the music I would want to perform but it is music. I too try and give something back. Music owes me nothing and I owe it plenty.

i think they should do a songwriter AI...give you a topic and you got one day or one hour to write it and play it live, do it in co-write teams of two so atleast one of them will have a passable voice...that last rule is to cover my ass for my mediocre moments...ha...mj

Bill , i just listened to phone call for about the 73rd time (remember i got 3 demos done when we did it, so i've still got 200 plays...ha)...it's a nice listen...i will keep my ears open for pitch opps...mj

I didn't start eating jalepeno peppers until I moved to San Anonio in the mid 70's. I was already 30 years old. I didn't like those other things prior to that. So, that can't be the reson!
