Bill, so right about missing the journey of creating music from your mind.
Was on a SUNO ride for a number of months with the aim of creating music videos for them...so there was still creation there, but I've been working on a few songs lately from my lyrics.
One is figured out pretty well....one needs more work. The creative process inherant in this is satisfying when it works and people like it.
I always felt I had to "excuse" the use of SUNO for a finished song......but what SUNO has going for it is that you can hear your lyric in various genres, building here and there ...pretty quickly. Then work on the best version.
So IMO a tool it is, but it should not be the only tool in your box. If it does 100% of the musical work...you are not crafting a song
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

"If you are stuck in your musical composing, be unreasonable. Change your environment. If you are stuck in your lyrical efforts, instead of forcing the same old words out, force yourself to do unreasonable things." -Brian Austin Whitney
