This is something I have suggested and tried to do in side meetings for a while, with very limited success. One problem is most people just want to showcase their stuff, which is understandable. Also, I suspect Dawn (I think that is her name, who runs Whistle Stop) wants entertainment for her customers. If there are 30 or more JPFers there who are drinking and eating, she won't care because we will be giving her more than enough business. But if there are only 10 of us, a speaker may bore the rest of her customers, especially if it gets too music business technical, which is what I really want.

Doing it in a second meeting a month is hard because everyone has other commitments. It is hard enough getting a significant portion of us together for one meeting a month.

I'm willing to try it again, though I may have a hard time committing these next couple months due to my family situation right now. It would be nice to see how many are interested in more career growth type stuff, what topics should we cover, and whether you would attend a second monthly meeting or only want it as part of our existing meeting.
