One thing I know about learning how to play the guitar is this. Sometimes you may feel like you hit a "plateau". You may think that you're not learning. You're just doing repetitive exercises and not getting any better. That's not true. It's all in the mind. The more you play, the more dextrous you get. The more you practice, the cleaner you sound.

Learning guitar isn't learning new songs. You can learn 100 songs and play them all crappy. Learning is where you are right now. The basics. Sounds like you're going to get through this phase because you're committed, but you'll keep learning as long as you play the guitar.
