As has been discussed here already, I never use myspace to contact a friend outside of the system. It's not a cool thing to do for that very reason. Fortunately, I've never had a friend attempt to do that to me either. However, I am making much greater use of it with the searching and adding friend thing. There's lots of non-musicians that are very receptive to hearing new music there and it can substantially drive new traffic to your official website. Working on really getting targeted fan bases in places I'll be playing is my next goal. I gotta wonder if Tom, the face behind myspace was actually a musician that started this.
