It seems, and you can correct me, that the term USB is a type of input on a computer that has replaced the paraellel port. Can't spell. If you have software that feeds from a USB port that's all you need. I assume a Mic with a USB jack rather than a phone jack of some standard size will work the same as long as the impedeance matches. You either have a dynamic Mic or a condensor mic of which needs either a battery or a pre-amp to raise the output level. If you need an adpater, it is a passive device and contains no electronics. If you experence some noise you may need to clean the contacts.
