It seems to me that she felt, due to the bitterness and media circus, that she would not be an effective governor with the current legislature in Alaska. I don't know if it was a good decision or not, but time will tell.
I don't think she would make a good president, but I respect whatever decision she makes about running. However, if she is worried about "protecting" her family, she ought just hang out in Alaska -- it seems like a pretty good life. Who would want to run for president anyway?
