The barre chord depends a lot on leverage. Where you keep your left elbow (if you're playing right-handed) can give you advantage, allowing you to hold the strings down using leverage more than grip. Keep your elbow closer to your body, rather than "flying" it out. Also, check where you place your thumb. Placing it under your index, possibly even back a bit toward your middle finger, is usually good. You'll find sweet spots for both that make the barre a little easier. On second thought, nothing makes the barre easier, it just makes your fingers happier. smile
