Well, Dave Johnny,
The unoffical word out there is Putin wants to re-invigrate the Soviet Union. Someone wrote that you can't go home again. So Putin has a enormous task on his hands to accomplish that. But what do I know? Lots of people in the old Soviet Union want the old ways, others don't.
