I hook them on so that one ear is left open. It has the required effect but takes a bit of getting used to. Leakage is a problem with the cheaper phones. That is why top range costs sooooo much.
There is little diff in sound quality mid - top range. I have noise cancelling they are great but hellish expensive and they hurt my ears.
