Kristi used BIAB in the composing of the song's harmonic structure.

Later, after the song was fully written, I did use BIAB for a few backing tracks, but the production and arrangement went far beyond anything that BIAB alone could do. I spent about 72 hours last week rendering Kristi's composition to music, iow "producing it" ...meaning, putting the pieces of this together with various "virtual instruments" as well as those few aforementioned BIAB audio tracks.

Yes, BIAB can spit out some decent audio performances, but they are still more convincing kept in the background, and there are still some unwanted artifacts in the audio, too much reverb on the tracks that can't be undone.

If you had BIAB and a good sequencer, and knew how to Google for legally free "virtual instruments" and effects and VST plugins and soundfonts, you would be well on your way towards making something with great quality; however, they are just "tools" really, and the "great quality" has to come from inside--it's a mental decision, and you just keep working at it, until you are in that "sounding really good" ball park. Raise the bar a little, with every demo, and you are well on your way, with whatever set up you have. smile
