It is always a pleasure hearing from you, and hearing your observations.

As for the chords, I started Kristi out, composing the chords, simple chords, which we then took another look at, with a round or two at "altering" them to become more interesting. The evolution from chords to melody was easy, since the chords and scale at any moment in the song told Kristi which notes worked, and how well they worked. She also kept in mind that melodies have "curves" and so her chorus doesn't start popping from the beginning, but builds up and crescendos, which seemed like a good strategy here.

LOL, thanks for commenting on the "litterbox" line. I think we'll keep it, for now at least!
