Hi Ricki,

Thanks for all the kind words, yes, the lyric never read like a dirge to Kristi or me, but something more upbeat...

This girl seems to be dealing with her break-up pretty well, and there is a bit of Disney in how she notices the various 'soundmakers' and other creatures, that have lost their power to "do their thing" correctly. That's why the dog plowing through the litterbox works, imo, because he, too, is "out of whack" by walking through the cat's domain. Howling, or walking through the pantry, are okay, but the dog would probably do these things, once in a while, anyway. Kristi was going for something a little more 'out there'... this also tells us the singer has a couple pets to keep her company, and the line comes early enough in the song, that the romantic element has not even established itself yet, but soon will! Perhaps you are right, but we had not considered this to be smack dab in the middle of the "romantic" genre, but something that skirts it, with odd observations and a fun touch. We'll be keeping an open mind, and appreciate your observations, Ricki, thanks. smile

Mike
