In the UK petrol is about $7.50 per gallon......I regularly fill up at a cost of around 80 ($100 US)...double what you guys pay.....the duty and tax on fuel is extortionate.......whilst we ALL hate paying taxes we have to.... so the gov can provide the services like roads etc we all rely on....Maybe if some of the big companies and millionaires paid their due tax instead of evading and dodging it the cost of fuel would come down....NUFF SAID....do not blame the government...one lot is as bad as the other when it comes to fuel duty and tax in general...but they have to raise it somehow...and duty on petrol is an easy way to collect it.
