Inflation is a funny and complex thing. Prices rise (mostly) because of two things: a) supply and demand and b) inflation.

Inflation is purely a monetary phenomena. Print more money and inflation goes up. Electronic goods have huge demand but a huge supply (and manufacturing efficiency counts here, too) - so electronic goods traditionally go down in price over time.

But the wild and wanton money printing that occurred in the last year of Bush II and all of Obama's years are going to lead to rampant inflation -- there is no way around that except for recession or depression. Sorry folks, we are in for a tough ride for years to come.

The "cost of living" index seems to be a total scam to me.
