Hi Fellow "Threadsters:"
This topic has just about run its course. In the final analysis, to me it was a great disappointment to see so many have given up on the values that made Canada and the United States great nations. The United States replaced the English Colonies which were established more in the name of freedom of religion than any other perceived right... and for many, a desire to rid themselves of the yoke of the Church of England. It was not a desire to rid themselves from Almighty God.
The Ten Commandments make up the foundation of our judicial system... although they are ridiculed by a minority of individuals who view them as absolute law that limits their ability to not believe in anything. You are not required by our Government to follow any religious belief... but you should also not expect us to give up our God-given, constitutional rights.
This topic was supposed to be about the incredible barbaric actions of a group calling themselves ISIS or ISIL. One of you believes and complained that the only people who have shown the courage to fight these thugs, the Kurdish Peshmerga, has stated that the Kurds are no better than ISIS because they extract an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth with their captives. I have not seen this reported in our press or media.
While I would prefer they (the Kurds) operate under the umbrella of the Geneva Convention in the treatment and care of captured combatants, I can understand that they would deal out "rough justice" against those who practice the same manner of brutality and lack of civilized behavior. To me, this only highlights the severity of the problem with ISIS. They are Barbarians operating under a brutal and archaic interpretation of the Koran.
It further pains me to have Religion blamed for the problems of the world. Am I the only person here who lived during WWII? Our nation prayed to the "Man Upstairs" as often as possible. Many who claimed to be non-religious... were found in their foxholes praying for deliverance on a frequent basis.
If Atheism is one's choice, that is a personal decision. I do not condemn nor condone that belief. It is a choice. I do prefer that those of you who think this way, stop spewing hate about religion. The Christians are not known in the modern era for acting like Barbarians and fomenting trouble with other denominations in the form of violence... unless violence is first thrust upon them.
Even then, there are those true believers who refuse to defend themselves. (I am not one of those, and to me, that is a regrettable thing.) It is very difficult to be a true practicing Christian in today's world where corrupt and intolerable laws are passed to make a mockery of what we stand for as a Nation. Even when we have cast our ballots in a clear majority in nearly every state in the United States... with a stroke of a pen, Judges and Justices sweep away the key element of democracy with their non-elected opinions.
I predict this is the area of the Triangle of the American System of Government that must be changed to allow us to limit their time in office and force them to stand for election by the registered, legal voters of this country. They are guilty of legislating from the bench.
Yeah, I know... we are a Republic and not a true Democracy... but we need to allow the majority to rule if we are to survive as a nation. Otherwise, let's stop "bandying" the expression that we are a Democratic People. I also contend that God is the true ruler of this nation and we need to bring the ten commandments back into every court room in this land. It is the backbone of civilization. Without the commandments, we are little more than a massive mob.
Study our history and read the sacrifices our forefathers made to establish what has been the greatest country on earth. Usurpers in our midst will destroy us if we allow them to do so.
Considering the direction we appear to be taking... Revolution will occur when enough of you are tired of being robbed of your inheritance... and seeing your children and grand-children pushed into the abyss. Education will mean nothing if there are no jobs.
With all of this said... I urge Brian or Kevin to "close this thread." I will not convince those of you who lean to the left... and you sure as hell will never convince me of the sanity of your positions. Let's get back to Music and stop "sniping" at each other.
Be Prepared... the bad times are coming if a reasonable semblance of democracy is not restored.
Dave
