Brandon,

It is probably the most important question asked. And as many opinions as you can imagine. Just look at it like this. The people who make the decisions on what gets cut in this day and age are most often writer's themselves and do their own demos on songs before they get cut. They run publishing companies. They are artists. They are producers. They are involved in record companies. They have spent years being in the business and earning their way to the table.

THEY have to do great, radio sounding demos to play for even more people that go into making a decision. In today's music market there are DOZENS of people making decisions on any project. And most projects lose money. So every one has to agree. And EVERYONE HAS COMPETING INTERESTS.

So if you are not playing the game by the rules that THEY establish, what is it that makes you think you can compete by doing less than they do themselves?

Read a lot of other posts around here. There are a LOT of conversations going on about this and similar subjects. Then at the end of the day, put yourself in the shoes of people who listen to hundreds and thousands of songs all the time. What is going to get and keep your attention? A well written song, with a great sounding demo? Or a mediocre song, or even a well written song, but with a rough demo that does not match up, thereby turning that song off after a very short time?

Listen to a LOT of songs and the answer is self evident.
