Certainly you are correct when you say there are elements of the blues in what is generally considered country. American music, like America itself, is a melting pot - or a mutt if you will.

I am not a purist, but I do like country. I also like classical, rock n roll, some of the blues and many of the other sounds and styles of music. Frankly, I don't consider most of the songs I write to be country, certainly not in the purist sense of the word. I write mutt songs myself.

Corporate country music doesn't appeal to me. But it does appeal to legions of fans. That's fine with me. But let's call it what it is, and not try to piggyback it onto the legends of the past.

And I do agree with you, let's open the windows and doors! Music is good.
