yeah, many feel that is still the only way, making fans one by one.
Hopefully over a long time they accumulate.
There is so much music out there, why should anybody care about ours? We gotta make them care, give them "news they can use"
Not that singer songwriters know anything more than anyone else, but they might hit on something that rings true. After 5 or 6 songs somebody say, yeah I know what he means.
I think that's what brings people back
