Well folks, since Miranda thinks this is a game, I'll just leave this thread with the following info from the "2004 Songwriter's Market."
The third bullet point on page 17, in the chapter titled, "How Do I Avoid Getting Ripped Off?"... "Avoid 'pay-to-play' CD compilation deals." The paragraph basically states that Music industry professionals have "no incentive to listen to them" and since CD's are so cheap to manufacture, the music company is making plenty of money off the people who pay them to record their songs.
Take it for what it's worth, but I believe I'll take the word of the "Songwriter's Market," an industry standard for many years, over that of a "promoter" who just started in October.
Be careful out there folks.
