The price to get on one of Gary Bradshaw's CDs(Western Heart..WHP) is $150.00.

These Comp CDs are sent mostly to European Radio Stations. Anyone that has had any airplay in Europe, on these small, part-time Country Stations knows that, at best, you MIGHT make 4cents per quarter, ONCE, through their Performing Rights Organisation(BMI, ASCAP), and thats only after BEGGING the PRO to send it to you. Just ask Dick Shuey!

My question is: Where do you come in? Are these "Pay-For-Vanity" Labels the bread and butter of your Promotions Operation? I hope not. ANYONE with a half-way decent-sounding recording can get on one of these Comps simply by contacting Gary or Buster by themselves, and sending the product.

These Comps are a nice way to see one's name on one or more of the many, many European Playlist Charts, and a couple U.S. Playlist charts(like the one from Sargeantsville, NJ), but they are what they are: mostly vanity playlists.

Perhaps this is why you call this a "crud business". Folks like you charging many times the actual price for services someone could easily procure themselves, with a bit of initiative.
The smart, saavy songwriter/Artist would simply go to one of the many websites that LIST ALL OF THE ECMA REPORTING STATIONS, if this is, indeed, what they want,and jot down the addresses that each PD provides, and send a single to each one. Followed up by a phone call and several fax's, knowing that they might garner more attention by themselves than they would if they were grouped on a COMP. of 15 other Artists.
They then might get a copy of the CMA Radio Book that lists ALL CMA Reporting Stations in the U.S. and overseas, along with Networks, Sattelite Broadcast Stations, etc., and have a go at that. It does cost $75.00, though!
