Hi All, For a bit more on compilation CD's, check the Musician Board, Bernadette, Stardust Records and Buster Doss. While not mentioned much on JPF's Boards a Major Artist will have to have a backer or pay the costs to get a Record deal, as much as $250,000. If an Artist puts a song on a Comp CD such as Buster Doss and others do they are probably going to pay for it. Others are doing Comp CD's in Nashville such a Wild Oats Records run by one of Merle Haggard's sons. True an Artist needs to know that is a route they want to take and be in charge of their career. If an Artist already has a CD out, and is booking dates they probably don't need to be on a Comp CD but is another route to get publicity. Let the buyer beware is still good advice.
