Hi Harriet,
Thanks for stopping by and giving a read and listen. Kaley knows how to write lovely melodies, doesn't she. I agree this needs work and we are in fact working off line on this. I agree there is some repeating in this and some of that may change. However keep in mind that some songs, even "hits" do quite of job of repeating themselves. Here are two samples below.
You Raise Me Up (Josh Grobin)
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary; When troubles come and my heart burdened be; Then, I am still and wait here in the silence, Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be.
You raise me up: To more then I can be.
AND
Love Me Tender (Elvis, Frank and others)
Love me tender, love me sweet, never let me go, You have made my life complete and I love you so. Love me tender, love me true, all my dreams fulfilled, For my darling, I love you and I always will.
Love me tender, love me long, take me to your heart. For it's there that I belong and we'll never part. Love me tender, love me sweet, all my dreams fulfilled, For my darling, I love you and I always will.
Love me tender, love me dear, tell me you are mine, I'll be yours through all the years till the end of time. Love me tender, love me sweet, all my dreams fulfilled, For my darling, I love you and I always will.
So even repetition isn't always a bad thing. Also so much depends on the melody, music and how the vocalist delivers or presents the song and it's overall feel. Thanks Harriet.
Best, Lynn

"If you are stuck in your musical composing, be unreasonable. Change your environment. If you are stuck in your lyrical efforts, instead of forcing the same old words out, force yourself to do unreasonable things." -Brian Austin Whitney
