Sorry!!!!! GOT TO DISAGREE. Some of the best songs are several minutes long Eg Bohemian Rhapsody .....Our guitarist does solos that usually last more than three minutes LOL. It all depends on taste, genre and market place. Most pop songs and commercial stuff lasts three or less BUT other styles eg rock, disco, rap etc etc can last several minutes or more. My rule is to take each song as it comes. I have heard 2 min songs that I think are too long and 8 min songs that are too short. It is worth mentioning that live music should last until the crowd stop singing along or dancing. I once saw Jimmy James and the Vagabonds live....they played "Amen/This little Light of Mine" for over 15 mins and the audience cheered and gave a standing ovation when it was finished cause they enjoyed every second.
