My take on this is that a good artist can evaluate a song based on its merits and can imagine how it would sound if he or she recorded it his own way. However, to get the song to well known artists, it has to go through layers of suits who have to screen and approve the demo. And the suits do not want to listen to crummy recordings all day long. So your best bet may be to connect with local up and coming artists and see if you can get them interested.
