Miranda,
I doubt many of us are going to be impressed with vague references on a message board that most of us have probably never heard of. Not to mention that none of the posts I reviewed mentioned anything singing your praises. Perhaps you could link a few such posts.
Are you legit? I suppose it's possible but why not give us the name of your "well-known production company?" If it's "Miranda Productions," that's not going to cut it if no one knows you. Why not give us some names of artists that you have successfully promoted? Certainly, you would be in their album credits and you might have some other personal acolades which you can share. How about some of these famous musicians recording in your studio? Names?
I'm also not impressed that you do not charge a fee for reviewing a press kit. I know of no legitimate promoter who would.
Compilation CD's are sometimes a good idea but very rarely and NO ONE should have to pay to have a song on one. I find it interesting that you told RandyB that nothing is free anymore as a way to excuse the cost of the CD. Well, pardon my further skepticism but people with contacts in the industry and with the power to promote their artists have enough confidence in their own skills and contacts to front the costs of a demo. A compilation might be a way to offset some of the cost for multiple artists but again, the artists should not be paying for them.
As guildslinger wrote, you have no website and very few posts. At this point, you have no verifiable identity as a player in the biz and nothing to show us that sending you a CD would be anything more than a waste of postage. Your email address is a yahoo address for goodness sakes.
You mentioned to RandyB that he would want professional musicians recording his songs if he were serious about his career. I'd suggest you try showing us that you are serious about yours. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to apologize but somehow I don't think I'm going to end up doing that.
Van
