BREAK OF DAY words and music by Michael Maffei, copyright 2001 by Michael Maffei and Falling Star Music, BMI
Come to me now, in a dream again. Hold on to me like you used to, when The stars were setting on the Boulevard- We were trying not to crash too hard.
Doing shots at dawn, at the Blue Dot Bar. Never wondering how we got that far. We'd welcome the day, Yet we prayed for the dark- Craving one last needle, One last spark.
Now, my cigarette was just a running light On that late flight we took every night. Those days- We were squeezing the life from a stone. Never admitting- We were too scared of going home alone.
Years went by, we all moved on. I guess I thought all the feelings were gone, Until I got that call one late summer's night- A friend said you'd either won or lost your fight...
There was so little left for me to do- Plane reservations, a card or two... You know I've never even Seen your grave- This was one thing I could not control or save,
Now, my cigarette's just a running light On this late flight that I'm on tonight. These days, I'm still squeezing the life from a stone. Never admitting- I'm too scared of going home alone.
Never admitting- I'm too scared of being alone...

"If you are stuck in your musical composing, be unreasonable. Change your environment. If you are stuck in your lyrical efforts, instead of forcing the same old words out, force yourself to do unreasonable things." -Brian Austin Whitney
