Lyrics to "Vegetarian Blues" by Christopher Thomas Copyright 2000.

I won't eat anything with a face.
It won't pass my lips if there's even a trace.
I ate my last burger about two years ago.
I don't even miss it, it just goes to show that I've only begun to pay my dues so I can sing the vegetarian blues.

I feel better than I did before I stopped being a carnivore.
I feel really good and I'm resting well.
I've reached the pinnacle of intestinal health.
Well you can too, if you choose.
You can sing the vegetarian blues.

Well I'm the same as you, I still use a fork.
So pass the beans but just hold the pork.
We all bleed and we all bruise and that's why it's called the vegetarian blues.

Everywhere I go people are serving meat, so it's just the side dishes that I eat.
I can't trust soup in restaurants because even the vegetable's got beef broth.
I read the ingredients to get my clues.
That's why I sing the vegetarian blues.

I can't eat jello 'cause I've seen the proof that gelatin is made out of animal hoofs.
All of life's questions come down to this: do I or don't I want to eat fish?
I'm a hypocrite with my leather shoes.
That's why I sing the vegetarian blues.
