As I watch her play, And shadow box her youth Never taking king to rest Holding on to pain As if it were a friend Sure she'll never find her way out
And the sea returns and washes to the shore Night falls, giving way to dawn Day by day Day by day
Yesterday a child Growing up to fast And so was innocence misplaced She carries a weight of old A shadow of the past Makes her afraid to be alone
And the sea returns and washes to the shore Night falls, giving way to dawn Day by day Day by day
Though we don't know what will be yet We get a little closer with every step Searching for a truth, looking for a key Only to find them inside of me
She can take your breadth away As you look into her eyes As truth unfolds, there's no mistaking She turns the day away Still lit up by her smile She dreams of flying without wings
And the sea returns and washes to the shore Night falls, giving way to dawn Day by day Day by day
Though we don't know what will be yet We get a little closer with every step Searching for a truth, looking for a key Only to find them inside of me Day by day

"If you are stuck in your musical composing, be unreasonable. Change your environment. If you are stuck in your lyrical efforts, instead of forcing the same old words out, force yourself to do unreasonable things." -Brian Austin Whitney
