The problem is....the barn door is open and ALL the animals have already left...It's too late...All they can do NOW is have hearings and figure out HOW it happened...but
1 We already know how it happened
2 We can't fix it easily
SO they'll make new rules and spend alot of money and hours on them..BUT...does anyone in their right mind think this would happen again in our lifetime? NO WAY...What they are doing is simply closing the barn door...but there's no animals to hold in.
The problem is fixed by NOT allowing stated (liar) loans, and lowering the loan to value people are allowed...We desperately need housing to find a bottom. The written rules that supposedly will make sure this never happens again so Congress (and they country at large) will feel better? Are a waste of time...It COULDN'T happen again...no one would fall for it again ! !
We need a BOLD NEW policy into the future...and I haven't heard one yet
