Andrew,
If the House and Senate are helpess, then the Democrats sure seem to want to hold control of them awfully bad don't they? It is a naive view to think the President has the power to do much of anything. Unless the congress puts forth legislation, the president's powers are very limited. The Democrats have control and can put forth and pass anything they want. If Bush was vetoing everything that they were doing, then I'd agree that he's been the problem. But that hasn't been the case. They haven't put forth any solutions on any signficant issues. If things haven't gotten BETTER or stayed the SAME under the Democrats, then that proves they made them worse.
If the Democrats were paying any attention, they would have put a stop to the practices that led to this failure. They did not. It happened on their watch. It's their fault. If you want to throw Bush in WITH them, that's fine. I didn't vote for Bush either time and I think he's an idiot. But he's not running for reelection. The Congress IS. And the Barney Franks and the Dodds and the other corrupt scam artists were the foxes guarding the chicken coops. The farmers (i.e. the US Public) need to eradicate those foxes.
Obama is waist deep involved with ACORN. It's an evil entity that is working overtime right now to creative massive voter registration fraud. It should be shut down and those running it should be in jail for treason. Serious penalties should be imposed on any who registers or attempts to vote under a false name. I consider that treason as well. If any politicians are involved or have facilitated this fraud, they too should be charged with treason and removed from office. I don't care what party they belong to. How anyone of ANY party could be tolerant or supportive of any organization engaged in rampant voter or registration fraud is a mystery. It tells me they hate everything our country stands for and are willing to sell their soul to try and win an election.
In the midst of all this stuff, we have BOTH candidates fiddling while Rome is burning. The difference seems to be that Obama supporters are gleefully happy because it guarentees Obama the election. So they have no interest at all of fixing anything. And they'll just blame Bush for the troubles throughout Obama's 4 years. He'll never take any responsibility for anything, and since he'll have Congress on his side, they'll all fleece the country while pointing the finger at Bush. It's obvious that is their strategy. They've already been doing it for 2 years.. and in that time we've gone from the highest number EVER on the stock market to a crash (which isn't over) of 40% in 1 year. If the party in charge of the Senate and House bears no responsibility for that, then there's no hope going forward.
Income and wealth distribution to those who choose not to work is not a world that any hard working person should want to live. That is socialism and once the economy tanks to the point where government becomes the only viable employer due to bloated growth, then we're looking at communism. Neither form of government works. With McCain, we're going to move WAY left as a country. With Obama, we're going to move left of any administration in our history. I don't think that bodes well for our economic standing in the world or our ability to defend ourselves or others who depend on us. It also means that there's no longer an incentive to work hard. With a doubling of taxes on profits from stocks or home sales, no one is going to invest in the US anymore. Why would they?
I predict a grim future regardless of which of these two guys are elected president. Their input isn't going to matter nearly as much as the overwhelming majorities the Democrats will have in Congress. Their performance in the last 2 years registers as the worst in history. Their approval rating is the lowest in history. And we'll be looking at another 4 years of more of the same.
