I did a search on the name you posted and no site came up,if that means anything. It may be true that it sometimes takes years to place a song, but if a song is great,it should not take that long, if it is being pitched.
I once signed a song with a well known publisher without a reversion clause, who later sold it to another publisher,I received nothing from the sale and my song is still tied up.I still hope they place the song,if not,my song is lost forever. So I don't advise signing any contract without a reversion clause.Once bitten, twice shy.If there is a reversion clause in place and they believe in the song, they will pitch it hard to get a cut,if they own the song outright,no rush, maybe they can sell it to another publisher and make money that way, mean while the writer has his song tied up. If the writer wants to record the song himself,he/she has to pay royalties to the publishing company for using their own song.
If a song is close but not quite there, the songwriter should be advised to do a rewrite on the weak areas and then give them a contract with a reversion clause. It's not the place of the publisher to do rewrites, little cosmetic changes does not qualify as a rewrite.
That's my views, for what they are worth. If we don't learn from our own mistakes,we are bound to repeat them.
Everett
