Well, I looked at the list. I recognized just about all the artists, and not one of the songs. Probably more evidence of my burgeoning curmudgeonhood.

Of my own songs, I finally got to the point this year where I could count the number of serious songs I've written on the fingers of one hand and *not* have fingers left over. And that's out of roughly five hours of performable "keepers." (I don't count anything else.) I do tend to deal with dark subjects, but always in an upbeat fashion, often with dead animals thrown in for (I guess) flavor. (One can't say "human interest," can one?)

Looking over 'em all (I had to assemble a setlist for the Bay City concert anyway), I think I've probably got only three genuinely happy songs--"Naked Space Hamsters in Love," "Twenty Saddles for My Chicken," and "Bungee Jumpin' Jesus." Most of the rest *sound* happy, though.
