And I think Mark's point is that even if you follow all those steps, carefully, throw yourself fully into doing whatever you have to do to make it happen, it's *still* a long shot. Even if you do everything right, and even if your song is truly brilliant, you don't automatically get a cut just by checking off all the right boxes on your list.
