The home truth is that a lot of word only people never even consider that poems and lyrics are two different beasts. Yet in an earlier post you said.... a lyric is just a poem without a melody. Have you been forgetting to take your oldtimers medicine again?  Fact is that the best songs have words... usually words that mean something..... otherwise the most popular music would be instrumentals.
