Bill sorry to disagree.....everyone and their granny seem to be able to write lyrics and it seems that most of them do..... When it comes to recording and editing etc.....different story. The standard of recordings on the MP3 forum is generally quite poor and from the amount of questions being asked about basic functions and recording techniques it would appear that many people do not have a clue. I know from experience how long it takes to learn even basic recording skills.......and how long it takes to turn a lyric into a song by writing and recording the music. I also know how long it takes me to write lyrics...there is no comparison. That does not mean that I respect lyricists any less it just means that perhaps they have little idea in the skill difference and time factor each element takes. As I said earlier my objective is to encourage lyricists with no formal music education to learn. It might also help if they went to a studio to see how difficult and time consuming recording etc actually is. I wish I could get away with just writing lyrics...LOL To illustrate my point there is a story that most studios will have experienced. A guy booked one hour of studio time.....he wanted to record an album......it took an hour for the laughter to stop. It can take many hours just for one track to be recorded and mastered.
