Poem or prose it does not matter......in order to write words that are suitable for music one must first understand and have a knowledge of music composition. That is my point and it should be obvious for anyone to comprehend. People get caught up in words sometimes and forget the main issue that it is the music that sells....though important...words alone do not make a song.

To call what I say dribble shows a lack of understanding and unwillingness to learn.....not the other way around. I in no way think I am superior to anyone else.....anyone who knows me will tell you that. I respect all musicians and songwriters regardless of ability.
I recently was asked to put music to words from someone who called themselves a lyricist.......After spending many hours trying to make a silk purse from a sows ear ...I finally had a demo having to almost rewrite the words. The guy had the cheek to complain that I had changed his words and should have stuck with them. I told him to learn to write music and he could put his own melody down.....

Fact is some so called lyrics cannot be put to music cause they do not meter or follow a format suitable for music. That is what I meant by two different beasts.
