Here is something I didn't know until recently. Foreigh aid is less than 1% of our budget. To put this into perspective, we are currently overspending our revenues by about 40%. We could cut foreign aid entirely and barely make a dent in the deficit.

The lions share of tax revenues go to social security, medicare, medicaid, defense, and paying interest on the debt. No budget will ever be balanced until whopping cuts come out of those - and interest on the debt can't be cut.

Defense, social security and our health care system - that's where all the money that we have control over goes.

I agree Scott. My comment was more of a moral judgement on foreign aid going to despicable places like Pakistan and North Korea.

BTW, here's our current National Debt: $15,134,609,380,294 - In the time it took my to type the N.D. it changed to: $15,134,613,207,475. Check here for split second updates: http://www.babylontoday.com/national_debt_clock.htm (can check the current interest on the debt there too) Unbelievable!
