I should not have gotten involved, as music is simply a hobby for me.

I will say this though - the advice you give is applicable in general and is not limited only to the music industry. When I got started in my line of work, I was convinced I was going to work in an old area of research and be highly successful. When I wasn't, I railed against the system. Not for too long though..

Because I got smart. I looked for current areas that required some of the knowledge I had and I hooked up with people who worked in those areas to build a track record. I was able to help them and they were able to help me. And it worked. I was still able to do what I was passionate about - only in a different setting than I had originally envisioned. Basically, I did in my line what you advocate doing. So I hope you keep fighting the good fight as your words ring true.

That doesn't mean I'll ever love country music though grin
