But anyway if you have a stack of good recordings "not crap" what you have is "your catalog"

The coolest thing about good recordings is when you shop for film and TV it's ALWAYS "AS IS".. So that means "No Re-recording"

And if you don't shop for film and TV then you just cut your chances of every getting anything anywhere in less than half.

This is just all the way the game is played, like any other game.

I spent sooooooo much in studio's I just built one instead. But then I have always recorded my own demo's from 4 track cassette and upward. When I started you could submit a home cassette. But now everyone has a computer and gets better results with much less expense and work actually.

No hit song bought a $100 grand of gear in my lifetime, broke my back & neck to do it. (literally) If we waited for a "cut" or some promise of one to do anything we'd never get anything done.

Even though I fail, It can NEVER be ME who fails, it's hard enough to live with everything we have to live with it. But I can try to live with "I did everything I could,
I put everything in, every penny, every day, every year the sacrifices the dues, the joys the disappointments. In other words bad timing, bad breaks etc... but I'll never have to question my commitment and drive. To me that's "no excuse"

What I'm talking about can't be bought and can't be faked. When you think like this
all these questions and concerns don't even exist really. You love what you do or you don't. When you love something can you ever give enough?

At the end of a tremendous amount of effort you still need LUCK! Somebody has to help you somewhere along the way.
